The Ways and Means Committee
This group looks after the nuts and bolts of the Reunion. Need porta-potties, Ways and Means will find them. Tents need to be setup, theyll make sure it gets done. From garbage collection to lights and barricades the list goes on. In essence Ways and Means takes on the role of the scrounger in those World War II POW movies. Think James Garner in The Great Escape. This Committee needs as many strong backed volunteers as possible. In 2008 Ways and Means is under the direction of the ever capable Mark Yalden. Please contact Mark if you can spare a few hours, before during or after.
Finance
As you can imagine, the Reunion raises and expenses quite literally hundreds of thousands of dollars. Keeping track of it all is the responsibility of the Finance Committee. Additionally, the committee takes care of the fundraising and sponsorship for the event. The majority of the members of the Finance Committee possess a background in either finance and accounting.
Sports & Recreation
This group of dedicated sports nuts, and just plain nuts, organizes those quirky Reunion events that we all remember, like the cardboard canoe races, the breakwall swim, paintball and so many more. 2008 promises to see even more of those events. Suggestions to date include Thunder Mug Races, Bed Races, bar staff competitions, a zip line in the ravine
.at this point anything is possible. We love to hear your ideas. Additionally, lets remember the Reunion is just that, people coming back to Town getting together with old friends and perhaps reliving events from years gone by. Past Reunions have seen a variety of sports teams come back and play a game or two, be it rugby, volleyball hockey. Contact Sandra Reid and let her know if your team is thinking of hosting a game so she can find you a location and promote your match.
Special Events
Reunions have always had special events, but never a committee dedicated just to them. The special events coordinator will ensure that these events, the Opening Ceremonies, the golf tournament, and any others that find their way on to the agenda run without a hitch. These are the marquee features of our Reunion and require the efforts of select group of dedicated individuals to make them a success.
Dave Patterson brings to this committee his talents from his years in the hospitality business.
Communications and Promotions
Marie Wilson and her dedicated group of merry men and women are looking after the communication and promotion of the 2008 Reunion. Initially, this Committee jump starts the Reunion through the creation of logos and colour schemes to brand the event, and developing ways to get the word out on who we are and what we are doing. New for 2008 is the creation and development of the Reunion website; www.kincardinereunion.org.
Entertainment
And the band played on, and on and on!!! Hey, you cant have an event like the Reunion without having quality entertainment. In this regard we are blessed since Bruce County has a lot of homegrown professional talent. Tony Doherty, of Scottish Festival and Sesquicentennial fame, has once again taken the reins of the Entertainment Committee to ensure that all of our venues are supplied with quality sound and bands and are appropriately licensed and stocked to deal with the thirsty hoards. Got a group you think should play at the Reunion let Tony know. Want to help by bartending or taking tickets? This is the committee you should contact.
Past Chair
As Past Chair, Brad Kirkconnell will be lending valuable experience and knowledge to the planning process.
Bar and Beverage
Carol Blake will be heading up the Bar and Beverage Committee. She's committed to making sure this reunion leaves as little impact on the environment as possible with the use of 100% biodegradable/compostable cups made from a fermentation of cornstarch and sugars!
Misc..
Darryl Burley is our "everyman". He will be lending his talents where ever they'e needed.
Amanda Goetz is our webmaster and Volunteer Co-ordinator. She will be responsible for upgrading and maintaining our website as needed as well as organizing the volunteers for the reunion.
